Leaves, Leaves and More Leaves
For our art work this term we have been doing some observational drawings. We had great fun going on a ‘leaf walk.’ We looked for leaves, carefully thinking about detail. We all chose our favourite leaves. In class we drew our leaf and Mrs Kingra said ‘we are all great artists!’

We have been making lots of noise!
In science this half term we are learning all about 'Sound'. We have been investigating how we can make sounds with different musical instruments. We found that we could make different sounds by shaking, banging, tapping and blowing a range of instruments. We really enjoyed having a go at playing the instruments and trying to make loud and quiet sounds!

Having had such fun playing with different instruments we were then able to make our own! We decorated polystyrene cups to make shakers. We each decided whether we wanted to make a loud or a quiet sound with our shaker and then we chose an appropriate material (rice, pasta, polystyrene balls etc.) to put inside the cup and stuck the lids on tight!

We took our shakers home for our parents to enjoy the sounds we can make with them!
Bye for now!

Investigating our differences in Science.
This week in science we have been discussing the ways we are similar and different. We needed to carry out an investigation in order to answer a question for Grace and Ben (our two doll friends who always join us for science!) Grace and Ben wanted to know if our hands are all the same size.
To answer their question we carried out an investigation to see who could pick up the most sweets and wondered whether this might show us that we have different size hands.
Here are some photographs of us carrying out our investigation.

We found that some children could pick up more sweets than others and therefore we decided that some children have bigger hands than others. Jamie was able to pick up the most and he picked up 15! Mrs Shanks wasn't allowed to pick any up because her hands are too big.

We are making a class project book about our investigation and will put our results inside.
Next week we will be thinking about how we have changed from when we were a baby. Please could all children bring in a photograph of when they were a little baby. I'm afraid we won't be able to return these photographs as we will be using them. Thank you.

Harvest
Last Friday we went to St. Francis' Church for our Harvest Celebration. We were welcomed to the church by Brian Goode and he said a few words about how we should be thankful at Harvest time. We sang two songs which we had been practising in class. We sang 'Red Combine Harvester' and 'This is what we do at Harvest Time'. We sounded fantastic! We listened really nicely as other classes sang their harvest songs and read their harvest poems. We really enjoyed our morning.
Thank you to all those who donated food for Harvest.

Goldilocks and the 3 bears
RAS have been acting out Goldilocks and the 3
Bears. We had to decide which character we had to be.
The Three Bears went for a walk in the forest.
They found Goldilocks asleep in Baby Bear's bed.

Easter Bunny Hunt
We heard that the Easter bunny had been seen in the school grounds, but where was it? We decided to go on a hunt for it. We started looking in the playground.
We think we found some 'bunny fluff'!
We found part of a carrot. We thought the Easter Bunny had left it behind. We must have frightened him away and he did not have time to eat it all. Poor Easter Bunny.
If we had been very quiet we might have seen him.
Mrs. Smith said she thought she had seen something white moving very quickly at the other side of the playing field.
Could it be the Easter Bunny?
We went to investigate. By the time we got there it had gone. We looked around for some more clues. We found more 'Bunny fluff'. So he must have been here.
What a surprise we had. We found a hole which must be where the Easter Bunny lives. We were very quiet and waited. He did not come back. We went back to the classroom.
We were so sad, we had missed the Easter Bunny. He had come to see us when we were looking for him. He left us some chocolate BUT left a terrible mess in the classroom.
It wasn't there but we did find some 'bunny fluff'!
